Saudi energy giant Aramco has been named an official global supporter of the AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027, in a landmark partnership that further strengthens the company’s growing influence in global football while underlining Saudi Arabia’s expanding role in the international sports industry.

The agreement, announced by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), positions Aramco among the premier commercial partners of Asia’s flagship men’s national team competition ahead of the tournament’s first-ever edition in Saudi Arabia.

Set to run from January 7 to February 5, 2027, the AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027 will feature 24 national teams competing across host cities, including Riyadh, Jeddah, and Al Khobar, as the Kingdom prepares to stage one of the biggest sporting events in Asia.

A key feature of the agreement is the official designation of the Al Khobar venue as Aramco Stadium during the tournament, marking the first time stadium naming rights have been integrated into an AFC Asian Cup commercial partnership. The move signals a major evolution in the AFC’s commercial strategy, aligning the Confederation more closely with global sponsorship and venue-rights models seen across major international sporting events.

Datuk Seri Windsor John, the AFC General Secretary, said, “The AFC is delighted to welcome Aramco as we enter a new era of commercial innovation. By integrating naming rights for the first time, we are creating a more immersive platform for our partners whilst providing our passionate fans with an unparalleled match-day experience. We look forward to working together with Aramco to showcase the very best of Asian football to a global audience.”

Khalid A. Al Zamil, Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications, Aramco, added, “This is another proud milestone for Aramco. As one of the world’s leading energy and chemicals companies, we are proud to support the AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027™, a tournament that will inspire fans across the Kingdom and Asia. Aramco is committed to powering communities, and we are looking forward to welcoming fans to Aramco Stadium, a world-class venue that celebrates sport, culture and community.”

Patrick Murphy, Chief Executive Officer of Asia Football Group, continued, “We are proud to welcome Aramco as an Official Global Supporter of the AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027™. The inclusion of stadium naming rights as part of this partnership is a first for the AFC, and a reflection of the scale of ambition that both organisations bring to this tournament. We look forward to working alongside Aramco to deliver an extraordinary experience for fans across Asia and beyond.”

The partnership adds to Aramco’s rapidly expanding sports portfolio, which already includes global agreements with the International Cricket Council (ICC), Esports World Cup, FIFA, CONCACAF, and Aston Martin in Formula 1.

The deal also reflects Saudi Arabia’s broader Vision 2030 ambitions, with sport continuing to serve as a central pillar in the Kingdom’s economic diversification, tourism, and global branding strategy.
