Cisco and the United States Golf Association have announced a multiyear extension of their technology partnership, strengthening a collaboration that will place artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and connected infrastructure at the centre of the future of golf.

As part of the renewed agreement, Cisco will continue as the official technology partner of the USGA, supporting major championships including the U.S. Open and U.S. Women’s Open through advanced networking solutions, AI-powered operations, and secure digital infrastructure designed to enhance both event delivery and fan engagement.

The extension reflects a broader shift across the global sports industry, where technology partnerships are evolving beyond traditional sponsorships into long-term strategic collaborations focused on smart venues, operational intelligence, and immersive digital experiences.

Jon Podany, Chief Commercial Officer at the USGA, said, “Cisco has been an essential partner in helping the USGA build a technology foundation worthy of the world’s greatest golf championships. This extended partnership ensures we’re not just ready for today’s demands, but well-positioned to push the boundaries of what’s possible at our championships and beyond to meet the changing needs of our fans and customers.”

Rob McQueen, Vice President of Global Sponsorships at Cisco, added, “We’re proud to partner with the USGA as it enters a new era of AI-driven innovation. As AI becomes foundational to the future of golf, Cisco’s leadership in networking, security, and digital infrastructure will help the USGA deliver smarter, more connected, and more immersive experiences for fans around the world.”

Under the expanded collaboration, Cisco will deploy its networking and observability technologies across USGA events to improve connectivity, operational efficiency, and real-time monitoring. The company will also provide cybersecurity solutions aimed at safeguarding AI applications and championship infrastructure from emerging digital threats.

A key initiative within the partnership includes support for the USGA’s AI-powered rules assistant, a platform designed to simplify golf’s complex rulebook by providing real-time guidance and explanations for players and fans.

Cisco and the USGA have previously collaborated on several major technology initiatives, including the Connected Course programme and ShotCast powered by Cisco, which delivers real-time shot tracking and advanced broadcast visualisation during tournaments.

Beyond technology, the partnership also maintains a strong focus on inclusion and workforce development within the sport. Cisco will continue supporting the USGA’s Pathways Internship Program, which introduces college and graduate students to career opportunities in golf and the wider sports industry. The company will also expand its Networking Academy Dream Teams initiative at key championships, offering hands-on learning experiences for aspiring technology professionals.

The renewed agreement comes at a time when sports organisations worldwide are accelerating investments in AI-ready infrastructure and data-driven fan engagement as they seek to modernise live event experiences and future-proof operations.
