A high-stakes Sunday evening thriller is on the cards as Delhi Capitals (DC) host Rajasthan Royals (RR) in match 62 of the TATA IPL 2026 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
DC enter their last home game of the season battling with their backs against the wall. To continue in the competition, Axar Patel’s team must improve their poor home record, having won only two of their past 11 games at the Kotla over the last two seasons. KL Rahul continues to be the foundation of the squad, having scored 477 runs with a strike rate of 177.98. He’ll need plenty of help from explosive foreign heavyweights Pathum Nissanka and Tristan Stubbs. On the bowling front, the squad will rely heavily on Kuldeep Yadav to take advantage of the sluggish pace of the Delhi track, while Mitchell Starc will seek to add his experienced experience with the new ball.
RR arrive in the capital hoping to end a two-game losing run and revenge their 7-wicket humiliation to DC earlier this season. While RR has struggled at home in Jaipur, they have performed admirably on the road. All eyes will be on young prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who has taken the IPL by storm, scoring 440 runs at a tournament-best strike rate of 237. With Riyan Parag likely to miss time with a hamstring injury, Dhruv Jurel and Jos Buttler will be given more responsibility to anchor the middle order. Jofra Archer leads the bowling charts with 15 wickets and will seek to unleash raw speed on a field that is supposed to help spinners like Ravindra Jadeja and Ravi Bishnoi.
Head-to-Head:
DC and RR’s rivalry has always been one of the IPL’s closest and most equally matched. Across 31 games played since the inaugural 2008 season, the two teams are separated by a hair, with Delhi Capitals leading by 16 victories to Rajasthan’s 15. Their matches have seldom favoured a single strong club for an extended period of time, instead being marked by momentum swings throughout eras—such as Rajasthan’s supremacy in the early years, capped by a crushing 105-run victory in the 2008 Semi-Final, and Delhi’s revival beginning in 2019.
