IPL 2026 RR vs GT: Match preview, head-to-head and streaming details

In the 52nd game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, Rajasthan Royals (RR) will play Gujarat Titans (GT) tonight, May 9, 2026, at 7:30 PM, at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

The Royals come into this game trying to break their mid-season slump, which has seen them lose momentum following a strong start. Despite having a formidable batting lineup led by Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and the explosive Yashasvi Jaiswal, RR have struggled to defend even big totals, lately conceding two scores above 220. Captain Riyan Parag will be aiming for more clinical performance from his bowling unit, which is largely reliant on Jofra Archer‘s speed and Ravi Bishnoi‘s leg spin. Motivation will be especially high tonight as the squad dons their unique all-pink jerseys for the “Pink Promise” project, a program in which every six hits during the match generates solar energy for rural families in Rajasthan.

The Titans enter Jaipur as the tournament’s in-form team, riding a three-game winning streak that has rejuvenated their season. Unlike their opponents, Shubman Gill‘s squad has discovered the right mix between disciplined bowling and calculating chase, winning five of their six games this season when batting second. The pace battery lead by Kagiso Rabada and Mohammed Siraj has been devastating in the powerplay, with Rashid Khan being the biggest danger in the middle overs. With former Royal Jos Buttler and the steady Sai Sudharsan at the top of the order, GT will be confident in their abilities to exploit a Jaipur surface that normally favours the following team.

Head-to-Head:

Historically, the GT-RR rivalry has been one of obvious supremacy, followed by a heated current resurgence. The Titans have a 6-4 edge in 10 encounters since 2022, owing in large part to their faultless 2022 campaign, in which they defeated the Royals three times, including a 7-wicket triumph in the IPL 2022 final. However, the momentum has flipped in the previous two seasons, with the Royals winning the last two consecutive games. While GT have historically been strong at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium (winning 2 out of 3 games there), RR’s recent success, highlighted by Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s record-breaking 35-ball century in 2025 and Ravi Bishnoi’s 4-wicket haul in their last meeting, suggests that the gap in this rivalry is rapidly closing.
