The Tennis Premier League (TPL), India’s premier professional tennis competition, has inked a three-year partnership with the automobile manufacturer, Kia India.
The deal sees Kia India coming on board as the exclusive sponsor for the league. The association combines Kia India’s long-standing worldwide affiliation with tennis with TPL’s developing ecosystem surrounding the sport in India, reflecting a shared aim of increasing tennis’ relevance and reach while inspiring a new generation of spectators throughout the nation.
This multi-year agreement represents one of the most significant milestones in Indian tennis, bringing together one of the globe’s leading automotive brands with a homegrown movement that is quietly rewriting India’s tennis story via the Tennis Premier League and its app, with a strong emphasis on grassroots tennis in India.
With a 25-year worldwide tennis heritage owing to its partnership with the Australian Open, Kia India has always prioritised developing meaningful experiences around the sport through youth-focused and participation-led programs. The collaboration with TPL demonstrates Kia India’s ongoing commitment to partnering with modern athletic platforms that shape Indian sports culture.
With seven successful seasons under the auspices of the All India Tennis Association and strong support from iconic brand ambassadors such as Leander Paes and Sania Mirza, as well as celebrated celebrities such as Sonali Bendre Behl, co-owner, Lucknow Blazers, and Rakul Preet Singh, co-owner, Hyderabad Strikers, the TPL has steadily established a reputation and mass appeal over the years. It has developed as one of India’s most consistent and influential non-cricket athletic competitions, having reached numerous notable milestones while being televised live on JioHotstar.
Kia India will be incorporated across the Tennis Premier League ecosystem, including the TPL App and all eight franchise teams as the front-of-jersey sponsor, as part of this multi-year partnership. Along with expanding TPL’s grassroots efforts, which have been crucial in promoting events and finding developing tennis talent around the nation, the relationship also supports Kia India’s objective of encouraging increased involvement and engagement around the sport.
Through its flagship “Race to Gold Scholarship” program, TPL has helped more than 80 talented tennis players in India over the past two years. With Kia India’s support, the objective has now expanded to include empowering more than 120 young athletes in the upcoming years, with the ultimate goal of developing Olympic-caliber talent that can win gold in the 2036 Olympics.
Kia India views the relationship as a powerful platform to further increase engagement around tennis in India and promote its long-term growth through larger size, structure, and ongoing investment, given TPL’s strong grassroots emphasis and expanding prominence for the sport.
With a larger emphasis on grassroots development, this cooperation is anticipated to greatly expand tennis’s reach throughout India, bringing the game closer to homes across the country and establishing it as the nation’s next major athletic movement after seven seasons.
Kunal Thakkur, Co-Founder, Tennis Premier League, commented, “This partnership with Kia India is a great moment for us. Over the last few years, we have focused deeply on building a strong grassroots ecosystem through our app and initiatives like Race to Gold along with our League. Having a global brand like Kia India recognize and back this vision gives us the confidence to scale our efforts and truly impact the future of Indian tennis.”
Mrunal Jain, Co-Founder, Tennis Premier League, commented, “TPL has always believed in creating a complete tennis ecosystem—from identifying young talent to giving them a platform at the highest level. With Kia India coming on board, we are not just adding a sponsor; we are gaining a long-term partner who shares our vision of building champions for India.”
Atul Sood, Senior Vice President- Sales and Marketing, Kia India, said, “At Kia India, we believe sports have the power to inspire aspirations and create meaningful cultural connections. Tennis, with its youthful energy, global appeal, and premium character, strongly resonates with our brand philosophy. Our partnership with Tennis Premier League reflects a shared vision to make tennis more engaging and relevant for a new generation of audiences in India. Through TPL’s growing ecosystem and grassroots focus, we look forward to supporting greater participation, engagement, and talent development around the sport.”
Leander Paes, 18-time Grand Slam Champion, said, “Over the years, Tennis Premier League has created a strong platform that is helping tennis grow at every level — from grassroots development to professional competition. Partnerships like this with Kia India is extremely important for the future of Indian tennis, as they bring long-term vision, credibility, and meaningful support to the ecosystem.”
