IPL 2026 RR vs LSG: Match preview, head-to-head and streaming details

Rajasthan Royals (RR) face a must-win encounter against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Match 64 of the Indian Premier League 2026 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur tonight, with their playoff hopes hanging by a thread heading into the final phase of the league stage.

After winning five of their opening seven matches, Rajasthan’s campaign has stalled at a crucial stage of the tournament. The Royals have managed just one victory in their last five games and arrive for the contest on the back of three consecutive defeats, leaving them with little margin for error in the race for the top four.

To remain in contention for a playoff place, Rajasthan need to win both of their remaining league fixtures to move to 16 points and qualify without relying on other results going in their favour.

The latter stages of the IPL season have historically been difficult for the franchise. Rajasthan have recorded only four wins in 19 matches played during the month of May across recent seasons, a trend they will be desperate to reverse as the pressure intensifies.

While Rajasthan possess the most aggressive Powerplay batting unit in the competition with a run-rate of 11.73, their inability to sustain that momentum later in the innings has hurt them significantly. The Royals currently have the second-slowest scoring rate in the death overs at 10.2 runs per over.

Home form has also emerged as a major concern. Since IPL 2025, Rajasthan have won only one of their eight matches at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium. This season, they are yet to win in Jaipur, with all three matches at the venue ending in defeats.

Lucknow Super Giants, despite being eliminated from playoff contention, arrive with improved momentum after winning two of their last three matches. Mitchell Marsh has been central to that resurgence, while Josh Inglis has also impressed at the top of the order, adding greater stability to Lucknow’s batting unit alongside captain Rishabh Pant and Nicholas Pooran. Pant, in particular, enjoys a strong record against RR, scoring 403 runs in 13 IPL innings against them at an average of 40.30 and a strike rate of 154.40, including four half-centuries.

Lucknow’s bowling attack has quietly been among the more effective units in the competition this season. Their Powerplay economy rate of 8.5 is the best among all teams, while their tally of 22 wickets in the phase is the third-highest in IPL 2026. Uncapped bowlers have also played a significant role in their campaign, accounting for 40 wickets, the most by any team this season, while also registering the best average and economy among all franchises.

However, Lucknow’s overseas combination remains unsettled. Aiden Markram has returned home for personal reasons and will miss the last two matches, while reserve overseas batter Matthew Breetzke has also departed. That leaves Lucknow with limited overseas resources heading into the final stretch unless George Linde is recalled to the playing XI.

Head-to-Head:

The head-to-head record still favours Rajasthan, who lead Lucknow 5-2 overall, although Lucknow have enjoyed relative success in Jaipur with two wins from three matches at the venue.

The contest is also expected to feature several key matchups, including Yashasvi Jaiswal against Mohammed Shami with the new ball and Jofra Archer’s battle against Nicholas Pooran during the middle and death overs.

With Rajasthan fighting to keep their season alive and Lucknow playing without the burden of qualification pressure, tonight’s encounter has all the ingredients for another high-scoring and potentially decisive contest in IPL 2026.
