French sporting goods retailer DECATHLON has expanded its partnership with the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) after being elevated to the status of major partner in a renewed agreement that will run through 2032.
The long-term extension will see DECATHLON’s football brand, Kipsta, continue as the official match ball supplier for both Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 beginning from the 2027 season, further strengthening a collaboration that first started in 2022.
Under the renewed agreement, DECATHLON will gain enhanced commercial and branding rights across French professional football, including greater stadium visibility, digital integration, fan engagement campaigns, and expanded activation opportunities linked to the LFP’s domestic and international platforms.
The partnership marks a significant step in DECATHLON’s growing presence within elite global sport, with the company now joining the LFP’s highest commercial sponsorship tier as a major partner.
Kipsta’s official match balls are developed at DECATHLON’s football innovation centre in Tourcoing, France, with both organisations positioning the agreement as a reflection of French innovation, accessibility, and football expertise.
Jérémie Siino, Kipsta Brand Director, said, “This confidence from the LFP is a source of immense pride for Decathlon. The renewal of this partnership until 2032 confirms the credibility of Kipsta products at the highest level. Our ambition is to enable all enthusiasts to play, from Ligue 1 McDonald’s to amateur clubs, by making performance accessible to everyone. By offering unbeatable value for money, we want every player to experience the same enjoyment and quality of play as the pros. It is by being at the heart of French football that we will continue to innovate to bring fans together and share the emotions of this sport everywhere and for everyone.”
Matthieu MAIGNAL, Director of Partnerships, LFP Media, added, “The renewal of our partnership with DECATHLON and its promotion to Major Partner marks a new stage in a collaboration built in close collaboration with clubs and stakeholders in professional football. Together, we share the ambition of promoting innovative and high-performing French expertise, serving our competitors and all players.”
The agreement forms part of DECATHLON’s broader push into elite sports sponsorship and performance-focused partnerships. In recent years, the company has expanded its involvement across global sport through partnerships linked to Volleyball World, Paris 2024, as well as announcing Antoine Griezmann as the global ambassador.
For the LFP, the deal delivers additional commercial stability and international exposure at a time when French football continues to navigate financial and broadcasting challenges.
DECATHLON currently operates more than 1,800 stores across nearly 80 countries, providing Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 with increased global visibility through the retailer’s international footprint.
