IPL 2026 DC vs CSK: Match preview, head-to-head and streaming details

In the 48th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, Delhi Capitals (DC) take on Chennai Super Kings (CSK) tonight, May 5, at 7:30 PM, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

The Capitals come into this game with renewed enthusiasm after a key victory in Jaipur, but their inconsistent home form, including three consecutive losses at the Kotla, remains a concern. The batting looks tough, with KL Rahul in top form at this stadium (152* and 92 this season) and the resurgent Pathum Nissanka. The return of Mitchell Starc has finally given their speed assault the “bite” it needed, creating a devastating new-ball danger to target CSK’s ailing openers. While Kuldeep Yadav has been quite expensive recently (economy of 10.26), skipper Axar Patel will look to him to destroy CSK’s right-hand heavy middle order.

Chennai comes to Delhi looking for a season double against the Capitals, having defeated them already at Chepauk this year. The major news in the CSK camp is MS Dhoni‘s confirmed absence, who has failed to achieve full health, putting enormous pressure on Sanju Samson and skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad to spearhead the batting attack. Gaikwad has regained his flow with back-to-back fifties, but the opening partnership continues to be a major concern, averaging a league-low 22.77. Anshul Kamboj has been a revelation in the Powerplay, while Noor Ahmad and Akeal Hosein will have to restrict DC’s powerful top order.

Head-to-Head:

Historically, CSK have had a considerable psychological and statistical advantage over DC, with a 20-12 overall record in 32 IPL games. This domination is especially evident at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, where Chennai has surprisingly been more at ease than the hosts, winning six of the eight matches played there (75% win rate). While Delhi’s recovery since 2020 has made the rivalry more competitive, including a notable 2025 triumph at Chepauk that broke a long drought, CSK won the previous match this season by 23 runs.
